Hi my name is Megan, but my family calls me Gigi. I was diagnosed with type one diabetes when i was nine year old. Type one diabetes is a chronic disease that causes the pancreas to stop producing insulin, a hormone that helps turn food into energy. In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle I must check my blood sugar and take insulin multiple times a day, as well as millions of others around the world. In America alone, someone is diagnosed every 21 seconds. This is why it is so important that we find a cure!. I would like to see the day where no children have to be diagnosed with this disease and those who have it can be cured. This is where you come in. Every year my team and I do the Cohasset triathlon to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and awareness for the disease. Any donations, penny and dollar alike, and support benefit the foundation directly. So start swimming, biking, and running to a cure today! Or you could just check out our web page, that works too!
Thanks for all the support,
